Recycling is a valuable and dynamic economic driver that creates jobs, saves resources, and prevents pollution. The dynamics of recycling, however, contribute to a market for recyclable materials that is affected by local as well as global demand... demand that is constantly changing. Join us for this month's Sustainability Lab for a discussion with Brent Batliner, General Manager for Republic Services, and Sarah Staebell, Environmental Specialist with St. Louis County Department of Health. Brent and Sarah will discuss the state of the recycling economy in the St. Louis region, the effects COVID-19 has had on recycling, and what the OneSTL Materials and Recycling Working Group has been doing to make recycling more successful.
